I remember the start of my becoming interested in art when I was a small child.  My mother, who was also an accomplished artist, taught my brothers and me to look for as many colors as we could see in the clouds, reeds of a marsh, or most anything we saw as we were driving.  Then she taught me to shade the folds of clothing and make balls look round in my coloring books.  I was hooked.  I continued my art endeavors with the help of some wonderful mentors at Skyline High School, in Salt Lake City.  Beyond my high school years I touched every facet of visual arts I possibly could.  These included oils, water color, pen and ink including courses in commercial illustration, fashion illustration, and silversmithing.

Though I love to sketch, give me a saw, hammer and torch and my heart sings.  My true passion is piercing, soldering, folding and building up of metal and then finding that unusual stone for the final touch that brings it all together.  My jewelry incorporates the ruggedness of raw cut semi-precious and precious stones coordinated with the refined beauty of pearls, Swarovski Crystals, along with sterling silver, copper, and brass which all come together to represent the inner strength and beauty of those wearing my custom designed pieces.  A whimsical addition of colorful natural fibers cultivates energy for life, yet the healing and metaphysical properties of the stones and crystals promote grounding and wellness for our souls.

I live with my husband, Jim, in Riverton, Utah who is very supportive, and I must say very generous, as I’m always stealing tools from his work shop for my jewelry.

I am very excited and proud to be associated with Local Colors of Utah in Salt Lake City who promote Utah artists of all genres.   Please visit my gallery images through Local Colors, or my website www.Vallineart.etsy.com.  You can also contact me via e-mail at vallineart@gmail.com.
